Introduction to Technology
Computer Basics
This workshop introduces the participants to the basics of computer operations
including hardware components and software applications. Participants will learn
how to manipulate the mouse to navigate the computer's screen and issue
commands. They will also learn how to open, save and close application programs.
Internet Basics
This workshop prepares the participants to surf the Internet to find information
on the World Wide Web. They will learn how to use key words that enable search
engines to identify the exact information that matches the criteria of the user.
E-mail Basics
This workshop is designed to create an email account for participants. After
completing this workshop the participants will have their own free email account
with Yahoo.
Microsoft Office
Microsoft Office is a suite of application software programs; each program is
designed to perform a specific task.
Microsoft Word XP
Microsoft Word is the most popular word processing program in today's market.
With MS Word you can create letters, memos, newsletters and desktop publishing.
The participants will learn how to work in the Word environment to create letters
and memos.
Microsoft Excel XP
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program that is used to organize and calculate
data, track financial data and to create charts and graphs.
Microsoft PowerPoint XP
Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation program that is used to graphically
present information from a projector, overhead device or on the computer's
screen. Participants will learn how to prepare PowerPoint presentations.
Microsoft Access XP
Microsoft Access is a database program used to organize related information in
tables. Participants will learn how to store, retrieve, query and create report.
